Hooks and Needles

 Ani jsem si neuvedomila, jak me chybely jehlice a hacek. Po tom, co jsem pro vnoucka v nedeli usila malou hracku, jsem vcera zacala novy projekt,  uhadnete co to bude?

I didn't realize how much  I missed  my hooks and needles and after sewing the little toy for Mak, I started another project last night. It's coming along quite nicely. Can you guess what it's gonna be? 

 Trosku jsem si upravila popis ale na internetu je spousta podrobnych navodu na tuto "africkou kvetinu".

I  adjusted the pattern to my liking  but you can find a lot of good tutorials for this "african flover".

 Vcera jsem Makeefovi "predala" jeho novou velrybu a jak vidite, mela uspech, huraaa!

 I gave Makeef his new toy whale yesterday and as you can see, he did like it, hooray!  

Hackovany nahrdelnik,  prvni a zatim take posledni....napadu mam plno ale casu se stale nejak nedostava.

Je to jen par tydnu, co jsem fotila tyhle nadherne zapady slunce a stejne jako kazdy rok,  me fotky prosleho leta budou celou zimu pripominat  zahradu, slunce, vodu a pohodu prazdninovych dni. V letnich mesicich toho moc nevytvorim, zahrada a moznost byt venku vetsinou pohlti cely den. Uz tu ale mame podzim a ja jsem vcera nevydrzela a misto zavarovani usila Makeefovi tuhle velrybu. Strih jsem nasla jak jinak, nez na internetu na blogu small dreamfactory. Zdravim a preji pohodovy den!


It's been only few weeks, since I took these photos of sunsets. They will remind me all winter of the summer days, as they do every year. I am not very creative during these few months, I spend lots of time outdoors and I am usually happy when fall arrives. Yesterday, instead of canning, I couldn't resist and  made this little whale for Makeef. You can find this nice and easy pattern at the small dreamfactory blog. Have a wonderful day!

Poslednich par dnu jsem se zabyvala timto malym projektem.
I was working on this little project last few days.

Mezitim jsem stacila rozbit konvici z prekapavace,

I broke my coffee  maker  carafe,

a tak zatim pouzivam tento malicky rucni presovac na kafe nez koupim novou :) 

so before I'll be able to replace it, I'll  have to do with this little tiny bodum :)

Sala, i kdyz pletena tenkou prizi na ponozky, pribyvala docela rychle. Bylo to asi take tim, ze jsem dlouho nepletla   (z takhle tenkou nitkou uz vubec ne ) a tak jsem si to uzivala.  Tady uz "pracuji" na lemu, ktery je take pleteny ale vypada jako hackovany. Pridavam video, ktere najdete take u popisu (vse  bohuzel v anglictine )

I used sock yarn for this project, it was a bit slow but I enjoyed working on it. I used this pattern.

Pletla jsem par hodin kazdy den a vzalo me to celkem tri dny.
I worked on it few hours every day, it took me three days to finished it.

 Libi se vam ma nova miska na vlnu? Me moc, je to jeden z darku k narozeninam od dcery z dilny keramicky na Hornby Island. Podobne ale najdete treba na Etsy.

birthday celebration

V sobotu jsem z rodinou a prateli oslavila narozeniny. Bylo nadherne pocasi a tak jsme posedeli na zahrade, jedli, pili, povidali ale take hrali ruzne hry, no zkratka pohodovy den, jak ma byt.....

 I celebrated my birthday this Saturday with family and friends. The weather was great and we spent the afternoon outdoor, talking ,eating, drinking and playing games. Lovely, relaxing day, how it's suppose to be....

Dominik a jeho pritelkyne me prekvapili timto vybornym dortem, ktery sami upekli.

Dominik and his girlfriend surprised me with this delicious cake, that they baked themselves.

 

 

Minuly tyden jsem se  pustila do vyroby kvasku podle tohoto receptu, ktery jsem nasla na blogu u Michleny  a znej v sobotu upekla  chleb podle meho osvedceneho receptu. Chlebovy kvasek jsem pridala i z drozdim,  ktere normalne pouzivam a vodu jsem jeste nahradila podmaslim. Chleb byl vyborny, vonavy a chutove opravdu rozdilny od chleba peceneho bez kvasku.  Kvasek byl jen ctyri dny stary a tu "pravou" chut pry docili teprve po ctrnacti dnech "zrani" i kdyz pouzit se da uz ted.

I started Sourdough starter last week and I baked really delicious bread yesterday. I used my bread recipe (with yeast) and added the starter and also some buttermilk. Here is a good video how to make the starter and let me tell you,  the taste and the texture are well worth the extra work!

 Zaujal me jednoduchy (mnou jeste neodzkouseny) navod na "rezani" sklenenych lahvi. Trojitou prizi namocime v odlakovaci na nehty a uvazeme okolo lahve. Zapalime a sklenici pomalu otacime. Tesne pred dohoreni (plaminek meni barvu a zkomira) lahev ponorime do nadoby z vodou a ledem. Sklo by melo prasknout kousek pod mistem, kde byl provazek. Kdyz se to nepovede na poprve, muzete zkusit znovu ale pouzijte novy kousek prize. Ostre hrany obruste smirkovym papirem, pri brouseni pouzijte trosku vody - tolik navod.

I didn't have time to try this tutorial yet, but I can see how can this get addictive :))

✿ free quilting ✿

Dny bezi jako voda, pocasi se opet zkazilo a ja se nemuzu dockat, az si budeme moc zase posedet venku.....v dnesnim lijaku by clovek ani neveril, ze pred tydnem bylo takhle hezky. Travila jsem dny na zahradce, kde v tomhle chladnem pocasi roste pekne snad akorat trava.

Time flies, the weather turned ugly and cold once again. I can't wait for the sun to return, so we can enjoy the outdoors. It's hard to believe, that  it was nice and sunny not that long ago and I was working in the garden, where now, only the grass grows like crazy, while the rest of the plants are waiting for the warmer days.

 Kdyz  nemuzeme grilovat, udelala jsem dnes hamburgery alespon na panvi v kuchyni,  mnnn cerstve upecene celozrnne housky, domaci okurky,  relish........

Certainly not a nice weather for a barbeque, but I made these burgers for our dinner today indoor in a pan, with fresh homemade buns, pickles and relish that I caned last summer.....mnnn.

V pondeli jsem absovovala kurs na prosivani patchvorkovych dek.  Byl to bajecny den, kde jsem se toho moc dozvedela. Vyzkousely jsme  si ruzne vzory a zpusoby volneho prosivani ( free quilting). Je to zajimava technika,  se zvlastni patkou na stroji, ktera umoznuje volne pohybovat latkou. Zacatky byly nevalne ale jak hodiny utikaly a ruce si zvykaly, slo to lepe a lepe.

I took a free motion quilting course this Monday. It was very informative and fun and I learned a lot in one day! We tried different techniques of free quilting, which I never did before. You need a special foot on your sewing machine, that allows you to move the fabric freely in all directions. It was difficult at the beginning but as the hours passed  it got easier and i felt more confident.

Tohle je dalsi zpusob, jak muzeme prosivat. Prez sablonu z  jemneho  papiru, ktery se po prositi odstrani.

 Another way to quilt is to use tissue paper pattern, that you remove after you done free quilting.

Nebo muzeme nazehlovat dilky lepiciho (zazehlovaciho) papiru , ktere po obsiti sloupneme a nazehlime o kus dal a tak pokracujeme stale dokola.

You can also use freezer paper pattern that you reapply ( iron on ) after each row. 

Ted se citim o moc vic pripravena pustit se do sve prvni deky i kdyz mozna nejprve prijde na radu nejaky mensi projekt, na kterem budu moc jeste trenovat :)

 I feel better about starting my quilt project, even thought I may tackle some small ones first, just for

 practice :)

Quilt

Po tydnech hackovani hledam jine rozptyleni a rozhodla jsem se ze si  usiji quilt. Hledala jsem inspiraci na webu a na tomto blogu mi padla mi do oka tahle deka......

 After weeks of crocheting, I am looking for some diversion. I think I like to make a quilt, so I started looking for some inspiration on the web. I really like this pattern, that I  first saw here.......

 a nokonec nasla podobny strih tady. Vim, ze hodne z vas se ted pustilo do vyroby patchworkovych dek a tak se mozna tento vzor bude hodit i vam. Nez jsem nasla vhodny strih, zkusila jsem si ho predkreslit.

I found this pattern, that I think will work. Since a lot of you are into quilting, I hope you can use it.

 Zelenina na polevku z nasi zahrady.  Porek, kadeřávek a rapikaty celer jeste stale rostou od minuleho leta, petrzelka, libecek a dalsi bylinky uz z letosni urody....nesmela chybet ani rebarbora na kolac. Jsem moc rada, ze mam moznost vybehnout ven a natrhat si co potrebuji, je to hodne prace ale vysledek se vyplati.

Greens and veggies  for soup from our garden . Leek, kale and celery still growing since last summer. Parsley, lovage and other herbs from this years crop.....also rhubarb for a pie. I really appreciate, that I can gather what I need fresh,  from the garden. It's lots of work but it's worth it.

 There is still snow on Mt. Washington, but the spring is in full swing in the valley.

a little bit of everything ........

Pracuji na zahrade a okolo domu.  Pocasi je stale nadherne a tak toho vyuzivam a snazim se toho zvladnou co nejvic. Presazuji, sazim, uklizim, no vzdyt to znate jiste sami :)) O vikendu jsme z rodinou a prateli oslavili Den Matek, jak jinak nez posezenim na zahrade.

I've been busy, busy, busy in the garden and around the yard. The weather is still superb and I am taking advantage of it,  trying to do as much work in the garden as possible.  Mothers Day went by in a flash, we celebrated with kids and friends.

Makeef je blazen do traktoru, Neil ho uci, jak snim pracovat a on to zvlada neuveritelne rychle !

Makeef is obsess with the tractor, Neil is teaching him how to operate it  and  he learning sooo fast, it's amazing!
