Stormy Monday

V pondeli se prez nase udoli prehnala vichrice.  Podle zprav vitr skoro dosahl stupne hurikanu.Tisice lidi byli (a jsou) bez elektriny a neobeslo se to bez skod.  Nam vypadla elektrina v pondeli v sest rano a teprve v utery v devet vecer byla obnovena.  I kdyz mame kotel na drevo, neni nam to moc platne, protoze teplo je rozvadene elektrickym "fenem" Nastesti v loznicich v prvnim patre bylo celkem ok, protoze teplo stoupalo i bez tlaku. Bez elektriny take nemame vodu, protoze ji ze studne privadi elektricka pumpa, take sporak je elektricky a pak uz zbyva jen obava,jestli vydrzi dva plne mrazaky a rybicky ve dvou akvarkach :) Dcera bydli primo ve meste a tak meli stesti , byli bez elektriny jen asi 4 hodiny. Takze jsme u nich pobyli v pondeli vecer a zvladli jeste kino, aby jsme se nenudili. V utery jsem u nich "uradovala" cely den, pripravila pro vsechny veceri a tak jsme se tam navecer sesli opet v cele sestave. Nastesti, jak uz jsem psala, nam v utery v devet vecer telefonicky oznamili, ze elektrina je obnovena i kdyz jak jsem zjistila pozdeji,  jen v horni casti skoro 5km ulice, kde bydlime.  Chudaci "spodni sousede" byli stale bez elektriny.  No a aby toho nebylo malo, dnes, ve stredu , uz zase radi vitr na novo, cele rano padal snih, ktery se ted nastesti promenil na dest. Jeden strom minul tesne nas dum, kdyz se v pondeli v pulce prelomil a tak se jen modlim, at tu dnesni vetrnou bouri prezijeme bez uhon.

Near-hurricane force winds battered our valley Monday. Thousands of people were without power. We lost our on Monday morning and it was restore on Tuesday at 9 pm. For us it means no heat and no water, which is very essential. One tree snapped in half and fell, missing the house just by few inches.   Luckily our daughter lives in town and their power was out for only 4 hour, so we spent Monday evening there, went to see a movie and return  to semi-warm bedrooms on thee first floor, where the heat was still able to rise from our wood furnace. The air is force through the house with an electric blower so the main floor was already about only 13 C. I spent most of Tuesday at my daughters house,  made dinner for everyone and we all gathered there again in the afternoon. We've got a phone call from the Hydro company that our  power is back on at 9pm. Yay!  Hooray!  Then,  there was snow this morning, but  is  raining now. Still blowing pretty strong and warning was issued for another stormy day. I am trying to stay positive and hope we'll survive with no damage.

Mazanec,vitr a rodinna vecere :) Sweet bread,wind and family diner :)

Vcera se u nas prehnala vertrna boure, ktera zpusobila vypadky proudu po celem ostrove.Ja jsem si naplanovala rodinnou veceri zrovna tenhle den! Takze deset minut pred tim nez mel mazanec putovat do trouby,asi v jednu odpoledne, naposled zablikala svetylka a bylo po proudu.


Yesterday a wind storm swept through our region and cost lots of power outages on the island.I planned a family supper this exact day! So 10 minutes before the sweet bred was ready for the oven, at around 1 o'clock in the afternoon,the lights flicker for the last time,went out and that was it for the electricity.

Nastesti u dcery k vypadku nedoslo ale pulka mesta takove stesti nemela.Po ceste jsme se museli dvakrat vracet,hlavni silnice byla uzavrena, blokoval ji obrovsky strom ktery strhnul i draty elektrickeho vedeni.Dalsi bocni cestu jsme jen tak tak projeli nez ji take uzavreli.Auto v protismeru melo velike stesti protoze padajici strom jim znicil jen predni naraznik a nikomu se nic nestalo.

So the sweet bread ended up in the pot and with the rest of the ingredients for supper everything was loaded to the car.Good think that my daughter did not lost the power but half of the city wasn't so lucky.On the way there we had to backtrack twice since the main road was block by a big tree that also took down the power lines.We just barely made it through another side road before they close it. A car in the opposite direction was very lucky because the falling tree took off just the front bumper and everyone was OK.

Nakonec jsme v poradku dorazili k Tereze a poskladali se v jejich malem bytecku:) Dokonce i mazanec znovu vykynul a upekl se krasne do zlatova a k nasi velike radosti se tesne pred veceri dostal domu i jeji partner ktery pracoval na ostruvku Hornby kde byl diky vetru zastaven provoz prepravnich lodi.K veceru se ale vitr uklidnil a tak jsme se vsichni stastne sesli !!

Finally we made it to Tereza and filed their little space :))Even the sweet bread rose again and baked to the golden perfection.To our big delight right before dinner Tereza's partner made it home as well.He worked on the Hornby Island and the ferries were not running till the wind died down.So at the end we all happily reunited !

Kdyz jsme se pozde vecer vratili domu, elektrina byla uz opravena.Dnes je krasny jarni den, slunicko sviti a pofukuje jen JEMNY VANEK..............
When we came home late that night,the power was on.Today is a beautiful day,the sun is shining a there is just a LITTLE BREEZE.........

Větru ani dešti neporučíš

Nekolik fotek ze vcerejska,voda nastesti opadla uz vcera odpoledne.

Dnes byl celkem pekny den i slunicko svitilo ale zitra se na nas zene dalsi destiva fronta a vitr az 90km v hodine :(

U ostrovu kralovny Charlotte(Queen Charlotte Islands),dnes rano 17.11. v 7:30 bylo zemetreseni.Namereno 6.6 a dalsi otresy po sesti minutach 5.7 stupne.Nastesti nevyvolalo tsunami.
Trosku blizko na muj vkus.
